Contribute to the Campaign
It is make or break time for the campaign. Our opponent has raised over $500,000 which he is using to bombard the airwaves with his message of less regulation, less security for our seniors and less opportunity for working families.
We need to be able to fight back and convey our message of economic prosperity through investments in infrastructure and education. Infrastructure investments mean jobs today, while education provides greater opportunities for good, high-paying jobs in the future. Right here in the Seventh District.
I posted this message on our Facebook page after the first debate:
Tonight was a great night.
As most of you know, I had my first debate with Tom Rice this evening, and I think that even his supporters would say that the distinctions between our two visions for the 7th district could not be more stark.
Mr. Rice seems to think the answer to all of our problems is deregulation. I countered by stating that education and investments in infrastructure are the key for jobs today, and for jobs for our children. Mr. Rice seems to lack an understanding of basic accounting principles, while I hold a PhD in Applied Economics and an MS in Agricultural Economics.
I also keenly understand what it is like to struggle. Neither of my parents secured a high school education, yet they had eight children to raise. I saw the economic result of that lack of opportunity. This is why they instilled the desire to learn, and moreover, to give back to my community.
I am an educator and I am an economist. I am running for congress to offer a brighter future for tomorrow and for the next generations to come.
I hope that you will stand with me. Together, we can do this. Together, we can win.
